He did his fellowships in Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Ocular Inflammation, Immunology & Uveitis at the prestigious L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
He has worked as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and a specialist in Ocular Inflammation, Immunology and Uveitis at Arogyavaram Eye Hospital, Sompeta and as a Faculty in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis and Comprehensive Ophthalmology at L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
He has achieved a certification in basic and clinical sciences in Ophthalmology from International Council of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, UK.
Dr. Mayur R. Morekar has the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) Award in the Inflammation Section for his seminal work on Cosmetic Contact Lens related corneal infections.
He has published several papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presented widely nationally and internationally at various scientific forums and has co-authored various text book chapters.
His presentation on "Clinicomicrobiologic review of Polymicrobial Endophthalmitis" won the Best Scientific Poster Award for the year 2008 at the Joint meeting and Scientific Programme of American Academy of Ophthalmology and European Society of Ophthalmology at Atlanta, USA November 2008.
His scientific poster titled "Isolated Intraocular Histiocytosis - A Rarely Reported Entity Masquerading Clinically As Uveitis" got a travel grant at the 15th Annual Uveitis Society of India Meet in Pondicherry in October 2015.
He has been an active participant at the International Council of Ophthalmology Post Graduate Program Directors Course.
He has cleared his Advanced Diploma in Business Administration and Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management from Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai and his Post Graduate Diploma in Medico-Legal Systems from Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences, Pune.
